My name is Anna Townley. I am an experienced KS3 English, Maths and Science, GCSE science and A-level biology teacher and tutor with 12 years of teaching experience in the UK and private one-to-one tuition.

​

I am currently teaching at a leading school in Bedfordshire having successfully retrained as a teacher after gaining my PGCE in 2010.

​

Leaving school after A-levels, I began a research career working for Unilever Research. Throughout my 19 years of employment, which included studying for my BSc (Hons) degree part-time, I worked in a range of Research and Development groups- making speciality chemicals to be used for skin whitening from microorganisms and identifying chemicals to be used in deodorants that combat body malodour.

 

My final role was as a research development manager working within the ice cream group where I implemented technologies to improve the vitality and health benefits of ice cream.

 

Personal circumstances allowed me to retrain as a teacher and I have not looked back. I enjoy my teaching very much and use my life experiences frequently in the classroom and in my tuition.

 

I believe making science come alive with real-life examples is key to my student's success.

Fees & Payments
Calculate Savings

  • GCSE & A-Level one-to-one online or face to face tutorials will cost £50 per hour

  • KS3 one-to-one online or face to face tutorials will cost £40 per hour

  • Group sessions are also available for 2-3 students at a reduced price per student

 

Travel costs will be incurred if I travel to you and will be discussed on contact

 

Payment can be made on the day in cash or by bank transfer, PayPal is also available. 

How it works

Online tutorials

 

These tutorials are for the duration of an hour and cost £50 (KS3 £40). Before starting the tuition, I will ask students to email me some details for example exam boards and specific topics they want to work on. In this way, I can provide them with activities tailored to their needs.

A broadband internet connection

A computer or laptop with a webcam and microphone

Somewhere nice and quiet!

Face to face lessons

 

Lessons can take place in my home-based teaching classroom or I am happy to travel to you (travel costs will need to be calculated and added on to the cost of each lesson)

Group sessions

​

These lessons are also for the duration of an hour (or more). I work with 2-3 students; building confidence and improving skills together.
